HOW TO GET TO MOAB:
Here are your airport options.

If you fly into Moab Canyonlands Field. About 20 minutes south of the airport on Hwy 191.

If you fly into Grand Junction, about two hours away. Take I-70 west to 191 South exit, about 30 minutes south from there.

You can also fly into Salt Lake, which is about a four hour drive to Moab. Take I-15 south to Hwy 6 and then cut through Price down to I-70. Turn left (east) on I-70 at Green River and take Hwy 191 South into Moab.

HOW TO GET TO BASE CAMP FROM MOAB:

1. Drive your vehicle. You no longer need four wheel drive as extensive work has been done to the road. It still requires some ground clearance and if there's a lot of rain, or looks like it has, you better try and call us first. 254-201-2803, though the phone doesn't work that often. We also now have Skype so if we're close to a computer we'll hear it 435-258-6264. It's over the internet so there's a little bit of a delay. Call us first. Then, if you don't show up in an hour and some change, we'll come looking for you.

2. We'll come get you. We don't mind and we won't charge you anything.

3. Catch a ride down the Colorado River with Tag A Long by boat. Tag A Long charges $15 per person to drop you off or pick you up. There are other boat companies that will do the same but charge about twice as much.

DIRECTIONS TO BASE CAMP FROM MOAB:

- From Route 191 between Burger King and McDonalds, turn on "Kane Creek Blvd." heading west. (West is only option)

- At the Y in the road, STAY STRAIGHT, and the Colorado River will be on your right side about 1/2 mile or so up the road as you drive through what is known as "The Portal".

- After 4 miles of paved road it will turn into a hard packed dirt road- RESET YOUR ODOMETER NOW- You'll wind down into the canyon and then into a valley area. You will cross over two creek beds. Depending on the time of the year, they'll probably be dry. If it's raining heavily, use discretion. We pulled a vehicle out of Kane Creek one day and the rear axle stayed in. That's quality mud.

- At approx. 6.3 miles from where you left the paved road, you will see the 1st "Hurrah Pass" directional sign- it will be after you cross the 2nd creek bed. Where the sign is pointing right, wasn't really a road, but people keep turning right at the sign cause the BLM won't actually move the sign to where the road splits so it's turning into a road. Go past the "Hurrah Pass" sign a quarter mile or so and you'll see the road split solidly and you'll stay right.

- You will now go another 2.7 miles from this point to the top of "Hurrah Pass". From the time you left the paved road, this should have taken approximately 30 minutes depending on how comfortable you are driving on at best a "dirt" road and how often you stop to look at the scenery. There is substantial elevation to this road leading up the pass and down again. If height is an issue for you, the next 30 minutes are going to be full of issues.

February in the red truck. He can come get you if you want?

- At the top of "Hurrah Pass" you will see an elevation sign on your left and will be able to see Base Camp if you look toward the widest part of the river with the island in it, which is straight ahead. If you have a walkie talkie, we are on channel 20. If you have Verizon or US Cellular you can probably get two bars on your cell phone if you walk around a little and experiment. This will be the last time your cell phone works.

- From the top of Hurrah to the bottom it is exactly 2.3 miles to the Base Camp sign. At this point, be extremely careful. Kobae our security tortoise may be out wandering the property and he loves to hang out here so don't run over him. At the sign you will bear right and go down hill to the first of two gates, drive through it and we are the next left hand turn. If either or both of the two gates are closed, they will look locked. They are not. Open them and drive through.

You will see a parking area on the left and WELCOME!!!
